Blanco was founded by Heinrich Blanc in 1925. Blanc decided then that the company would dedicate themselves to innovation initially in stainless steel products. The company later started to develop products using other materials, including ceramic and granite, especially in the kitchen sink range.

The products are made primarily from 3 different materials. Stainless Steel (which is also used to produce the high quality taps), Vitreous Porcelain (for the ceramic sinks) and their own product, Silgranite. Silgranite is a material of which 80% comes from a granite compound, with the remaining 20% coming from Stainless Steel. This creates a polished or lined finish to what would otherwise be an average granite sink, whilst also adding high resistances to extreme temperatures.
